Safety is a critical consideration in CNC press brake operation. Modern machines are equipped with multiple integrated safety systems designed to protect both the operator and the equipment during operation.
Emergency Stop Button
Large, easily accessible button that immediately halts all machine operations in case of emergency.
Laser Safety Guard (Light Curtains / Laser Beam Systems)
Advanced photoelectric protection system that detects hands or foreign objects in the working zone.
Example: DSP AP Laser, Lazersafe IRIS, AKAS II
Safety Doors / Interlocked Guards
Mechanical or electrical interlocks on doors or side panels that prevent operation when open.
Two-Hand Control System
Requires simultaneous activation of two buttons to start the stroke, ensuring hands are away from the tooling area.
Foot Pedal Safety Circuit
Pedal is designed to stop the stroke if released midway. Lockable when not in use.
Ram Slow-Speed Approach (Safety Speed Zone)
The ram slows down automatically before reaching the die to ensure safe operation and precise positioning.
Backgauge Collision Protection
Includes sensors or overload detection to prevent crashes during retraction or movement.
Force Monitoring System (Tonnage Control)
Ensures the applied bending force does not exceed safe limits for tooling or materials.
Overload Protection
Protects the hydraulic system and structure from excessive load or mechanical stress.
